Hey guys, I don't post much around here, but i read the heck out of this forum. I recently purchased a DMPS ap4. I really like it and have purchased a few things for it including a Matech back up iron sight, utg quad rail, green laser sight, a few pmags and an eotech 552. My problem is this, when I went to zero all the new sights, i found myself having to adjust the windage A LOT! so much in fact, I was only a few clicks from running out of room on my iron sight. so I got to looking and my front sight is canted, something I would expect on a wasr-10, not an ap4. Can this be fixed without having to buy a new barrel or major work?

Re: Canted front sight on DPMS

First of all, if its new, take it back. You have a right to expect a new firearm to be within spec and fucntional.

If thats not an option then try this:

There is a certain amount of play in the barrel extension pin notch in the upper. Your barrel may have been installed with that pin at the extreme edge of this. Loosen the barrel nut and see if you can rotate it back the other direction at all. Of course this assumes you have an upper block, and a barrel nut wrench.

Ok, thanks for the fast reply. I did buy it new from DPMS in a group buy. They had some military deal going on. Either way, I'm not to familiar with shipping weapons, so since it sounds like it could be an easy fix I might try to get it to my local gun shop. (I've dealt with them a lot lately

) Since this is my first ar, I haven't had a chance to get a lot of tools for it yet.

Re: Canted front sight on DPMS

Contact DPMS and tell them about your problem. If they agree to fix it you can just ship the upper. We ship everything USPS Priority as its fast, cheap, and trackable. Its a new weapon, and you shouldn't have to pay for it to be put together right.

Just an update. Sorry it took so long. I sent the upper into DPMS and received it back in 2 weeks with a new barrel. The fixed it correctly and it didn't cost me a penny, they even paid the shipping to and from them. Hats off to DPMS.
