Hi,

Is anyone using a car safe when transporting firearms or ammunition or do you use separate locked containers for these items and perhaps attach them via another lock/cable to your vehicle ?

Thx

Re: Car safe

I just took my back seat out of my 74 Camaro and bolted in a double wide stack-on. I can fit all my sks and mossberg sniper (night train) rifles. It also holds about 8000 rounds of ammo. The only draw back is that I bottom out going over speed bumbs.

If you've got one of the vehicles they make a box for, the ConsoleVault is nice. I've got one of these in my truck:

I think it's great. It bolts down inside the existing console and is very sturdy. Not completely fool-proof, but it could not be easily removed without attracting attention. I'd guess it would take a guy 5-10 minutes with a crow bar to break apart the console and then break the bolts off - after figuring out what it was and that he wanted to steal it. It has lots of room for other stuff. I put velcro on the side closest to me and I can drop a G27 inside a soft holster with with velcro on it in there and it stays put. I keep an extra mag and a box of ammo in there all the time just in case I need it, along with a flashlight, multi-tool, spare keys, etc.

Good luck,
Erik
