I need a bit of help. I have had the old Alamo 4 Star Tripod for probably 6 or 7 years now (see pic below). I LOVE the tripod, but the legs that come with it are:

    a.) Noisy
    b.) Slow
    c.) Not enough adjustment options

I have been looking for some carbon fiber legs, but I am shocked at the weight of some of these legs. I know they hold a ton of weight, but I still expected them to be much ligher than what I already have. This tripod as it stands weighs 3 lb 14 ounces total and the legs I have been seeing are heavier than that. Regardless, I can get over them being roughly the same or a little bit heavier, but 6 lbs for legs alone is not going to cut it.

    A couple of things:
1.) I want the tripod to be able to lay out flat for shooting when prone
2.) I DON'T need to be able to stand and shoot from a tripod. I only need my legs long enough to sit on the ground, kneel on the ground, or MAYBE shoot from a chair but thats less important. I am hoping my shorter needs will help eliminate some of the weight.
3.) If the legs are rated at say 22 lbs...are you comfortable running a 22 lb gun or should I overshoot by say 50%
4.) I woudl prefer twist lock, does anyone know of some that maybe only take a 1/4 turn or so to be secure?
5.) Speed, noise and weight are of top priority. Everything else is negotiable.

    Recommendations?

Ah right no bother. No cant say I find them noisy. I use mine both at work and for hunting/steel bashing. I find it a good value for money tripod considering the tripod weight, the amount of dexterity in the tripod, the quality , weight rating. I have ran 18lb rifles off this up to 338lm no bothers.

Here is our TFC-23 Mk2 website is down currently so I'll put link up when fixed. Weighs in around 3.1lbs. I know you said you don't need standing but itll do it for slightly shorter people @ 52.7" down to 23.9" in your pack. You can go prone to 3.7" if you want. These specs are without a head though, and a little more money then the mentioned ones already.
