I fell off a ladder a while ago, and broke both feet. Been in a wheel chair for a while so I set up my reloading stuff in the house(thanks to the wife, for permission), and filled my 2000+ empties. Was talking to a good friend who likes to "borrow" my reloads when we shoot, cause ........ In any event, I "mention" to him that I had some time, and if he brought the components, I'd put them together for him. I told him where to get what, and off he goes. Yesterday, he drops off the supplies including 3000 empty 308s, and 3000 223s from Brass Bombers!!. Holy" getting carried away" Batman!, {Here I have to mention that he does some nice work. Every shell is brite and shiny, primers removed.} Well, here we go.They all need to be sized, cleaned again, trimmed, chamfered, etc, etc. Thank you WFT. While sizing the first 500, today, I was watching the head stamps. I've got a mix of LC, from 05-12, some PMJ and some other oddballs, so here are my questions. How consistent are the Lake cities, between runs? Should I "separate" lots? Should I do load work-ups for each lot? OUCH. I,m usually pretty anal about my reloading, But I,m looking at 6000 cases. Thanks for any input. Years ago, I bought 1K federals, and 1K Winchesters, same lots each, and that's what I'm used to using.

1st off you are looking plenty of time behind the press. I would have him come back and sort all the brass and have him help with the prep. He should know to have this work done by a licensed reloader would cost him every bit close to new ammo.

As for workups, you would have to shoot them in his rifles. So you can first load up an OCW lot for the major headstamp, have him pick the load he wants, then load that major headstamp (i/e LC) then if there are a significant amount of PMJ, do the same. All others can be loaded with a safe plinking load, if not he can take the empties back home.

Shit, that amount of reloading, he better be out there reshingling your roof, or shovling snow for the season.
