I've gotten tired of champhering and deburring cases by hand and am wanting something electric. Anyone using and recommending one of the case prep centers by Hornady, RCBS or someone? What about the utility of the complete center versus just the machine that champhers and deburrs? Thanks

I have a cutter and shell holder for 223 260 and 308, switch over is less than 3 minutes, I choose to go separate shell holders and cutter assemblies for ease of change overs, I could use the 308 shell holder for any cartridge in the same family and just adjust the blade.

Re: case prep center

I do have a Giraud, but a couple years ago I got an RCBS Case Prep center for pretty much the same reasons you mentioned. Flash hole deburring, primer-pocket uniforming, brushing the insides of necks, and case mouth chamfer/deburr on small batches or when the Giraud is setup for something else (or I just don't want to haul it out).

It quickly became one of those things that I wondered how the heck I'd lived without it for so long.

I will say... I've replaced the RCBS chamfer and deburring cutters with Lyman VLD ones, and there's a Lyman flash-hole deburring tool installed on there too. If I was buying new today, I'd look real hard at the Lyman case prep center instead of the RCBS, assuming I could get it with the above attachments.

YMMV,
