CCI BR2 LARGE RIFLE BENCHREST PRIMERS AT MIDWAY

Re: CCI BR2 LARGE RIFLE BENCHREST PRIMERS AT MIDWAY

I was about to order powder and primers from Midway. On checking out I found a $50 hazardous materials fee!!! What's with that? $20 OK, but $50?!!!

Bruno's lists CCI Large and Small rifle BR primers in stock.

Their hazardous materials fee is $22.50

I'm showing a 25 hazmat fee at Midway! That is up from last year looking back across my orders because it was 20 but I've come up with a supplier here at home that's been able to get me what I want if I'm not in a hurry and I've got enough lead way to know I can give him a month and he will come up with what I want and he matches or is cheaper than Midway. They have started to go up in price seems like since they have got so popular. He keep my main powders in stock in 5 or 8lb kegs and gets Federal 210M and 215M's about once a month. He's got some 8 lbs of Varget and a couple of bricks of 215M's setting on the shelf for a month now. I got the last brick of 210M's last month and only 36.00 out the door.

Re: CCI BR2 LARGE RIFLE BENCHREST PRIMERS AT MIDWAY

I went to order some H4350 from Midway Thursday and the fees were crazy. $7.99 shipping, $25 Hazmat fee and $9.99 ground freight fee. I did not hit Place Order. it was going to average $40 a pound for two 1 pound juggs.

Re: CCI BR2 LARGE RIFLE BENCHREST PRIMERS AT MIDWAY

I think Midway ships powder and primers seperately, so you get hit with two hazmat fees. I heard that FedEx and UPS both recently increased the fee from $22.50 to $25.

Re: CCI BR2 LARGE RIFLE BENCHREST PRIMERS AT MIDWAY

almost 50 bucks for 1000 primers - time to change to Fed 210's! ouch...I am going to dread the day when I have to start buying primers and it is coming soon.

Re: CCI BR2 LARGE RIFLE BENCHREST PRIMERS AT MIDWAY

Yes, I was ordering powder and primers. I usually order as much of both as I can because of the hazmat fee. Everyone else ships powder and primers together for one hazmat fee. I didn't see anything about two separate shipments but I'm sure you're right. Still, I'm not about to pay that. I'll continue to order my powder and primers from places that will ship both under one hazmat fee. I've never ordered powder or primers from Midway before and now I know I never will.

Buying them from midway is a ripoff at $50 other places sell them for $37 (when in stock of course).

Re: CCI BR2 LARGE RIFLE BENCHREST PRIMERS AT MIDWAY

Well, I finally found pistol primers at Widener's. They have Federal and Wolf Larege pistol and PMC small pistol primers. Ordered primers and powder for one hazmat fee like it should be.

That's the rub, ain't it?

Now, I like a bargain as much as the next guy, and don't want to spend it where I don't have to, but right now the extra bucks I'm paying to keep a $2500 stick running is small potatos, especially with the spotty supply.

Kind of reminds me of the shooters that rolled up to matches in their Suburbans and got out their $5000 matchsticks, rests, mats, jackets, spotting scopes, ammo developed during 20 hours at the range since last match, etc, etc, who then proceed to have a bloody fit when the match fee is raised from $15 to $25. I guess we all have a line we won't cross eh? This is good, I'm learning some new potential dealers if I need something.
