I am doing a project rifle on a savage model 10 action with CDI bottom metal and just got an e-mail from the builder saying that with a .260 Rem there was not enough room to get the loaded cartridge to feed. I want to use 140 a max bullets or something similar. My question is this has anyone else had this problem and if so how did you get around it? Any info would be GREATLY appreciated

Re: CDI Bottom Metal Question

the CDI uses AICS mags... I'd have to measure to know for sure, but they have something like 2.900+ available inside the mags... 260 is loaded to the approx same OAL as a 308 (2.80 +/-).... there shouldn't be a problem

Re: CDI Bottom Metal Question

I run the 130gr VLDs loaded to 2.94" in my Savage 10FP w/ CDI DBM...works just fine in my Alpha Type 2 magazines.

If the AICS mag your smith is using won't allow the length you need, try a modified AICS mag or the Alphas.

Re: CDI Bottom Metal Question

thank you all for the feed back. Just talked to Stan and he realized that the internal box mag and the AICS mags are the same length. THE BUILD GOES ON AS PLANNED. Can wait to get my first long range rifle done.
