It is amazing to listen to the drug ads on how they will cure anything then they list the side affects which are worst than the
original condition. </div></div>
Bextra and Vioxx were pulled off the market. I have used all 3. I was alternating month to month with Bexta and Celebrex, Bextra was removed about 3wks after my last dosages, never took Vioxx for any length of time as it none nothing for me. None did me much good but had really no side effects from any. My situation is different than many for drug choices because of needing coumadin for my heart valve vs. side effects for RA drugs. Now taking Remicade ($8400 every 6wks) and trying to find financial way to go back to Humira shots($1450 month),both chemo drugs in lower dosages. Celebrex has helped many people deal with pain and inflammation from different forms of RA etc which is why the FDA weighed the benefits vs. side effects. The other 2 were less successfull for their intended purpose and had more issues vs inflammation reduction.
Yea, side effects suck depending on how you are affected. However, keep in mind that if you have enough pain etc the effects might be minor compared to what you have been dealing with every day. You have to make a choice on what YOU consider satisfactory 'quality of life'!!! Depending on age and disease what is better, living 15-20yrs unable to function at all because of pain, inflammation, swelling, fluid retention or living 10-15 yrs with the ability to partially function and have a somewhat normal life????
Surely not agreeing with the drug companies and FDA on all of their choices I will guarantee you that if you are the person wearing the shoes things will have a different perspective. Yes, alot of it is about the money but long term the drug companies goal is to stay in business at a profit, killing all your customers and giving your profits to their families via lawsuits isn't conducsive to long term stockholder participation in your company. Some work, some don't, and their is only 1 real way to test long term success on humans and that is with humans, not a bunch of rats!!!!
When I was taking Humira shots my Cobra policy from divorce pd for 75% and another organization picked up the almost $300 deductible because of my income. I had super luck with the shots and at 1 point didn't need any pain meds for about 8 months. Because of my financial situation I am now on Medicare and they won't pay $1400+ a month for shots but will pay the majority of costs for Remicade infusions. Total cost per infusion is $8400ish every 6wks and I have to drive 200 miles one way. Don't make much sense but that is the politics of our Medicare system. The Remicade never has been as effective despite the 3X price tag and I have taken hydrocodone and Oxycodone near daily. As copay cards aren't allowed with Medicare I have to drive 3400 miles a yr because I don't have $5000+ to pay deductibles of shots. My choices are unbearable pain 24/7, drive 3400 miles a yr or come up with $5000+ in copays???
Oh, I don't own any stock in anything, just an end user of their products with no other alternatives!
Respectfully,
