    Goes like this: I post some pics of a finished piece and inevitably someone chimes in with "why'd you coat the inside of the action?"

    Cause I can.

    Lol, that's funny because I thought the same thing when I saw it.

    Then I thought to myself, this motherfucker knows his shit and waaaay more than me so who am I to question it.

    @LongRifles Inc.
    Curiosity question: does this do anything to the hardness of the metal?
    Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

    Honing has zero effect on heat treat. I suppose someone "could" hone far enough to burn through a case hardened part, but gawd, you'd be there for days trying to do it while wearing out at least a handful of stones in the process.

    Cut up greasy machinists hands. I love it. You won’t be getting any calls for work as a hand model for jewelry shows...so don’t quit your day job!

    Thanks for the education.

    Note to all/self: Chasing a thread on a bolt with a Guhring 1/2-13 bottoming tap while having an index fingertip in close proximity is exactly how hamburger gets made should you ever find the need to explore that on yourself. :)
