Ive been trying to figure out how to cerakote a couple barrels without the action. this is for a few reasons, 1. is that my oven is 29" max so id need to take the action off. 2. Ive got two barrels for the same action so i dont want to paint it twice.

how would you protect the shoulder from paint without butchering the paintjob?

I machined slave cylinders but you can also wrap the threads with safety wire and form a hanging loop, then wrap the works in high temp tape.

i also considered throwing a savage barrel nut on backwards, the high temp tape sounds like it would work but im not sure how I could confidently just get the shoulder.

If you have a barrel nut tighten it up against a recoil lug that’s taped up

To plug the barrel and chamber end I use rubber/silicone plugs and aluminum welding rod
