Thinking of cerakoting a scope multicam. Was thinking of putting the base coat on with out the rings, then mounting it, and finally putting the final camo over the scope and rings at once.

How does everyone go about coating their scopes/rings?

Re: Cerakote a scope

Your idea will work fine, I've done a couple rifles that way. Just keep in mind that stuff will not come off in the future. I quit using it on my own scopes just simply because if I want to sell it in the futute I end up taking a pretty good hit on the price if it's been coated.

Re: Cerakote a scope

Are there any downsides to coating the scope and then mounting it in the rings? Vice versa?

Re: Cerakote a scope

Just make sure the position in the rings is exactly where you want it. Then the pattern will blend from one part to the next very nicely, but if you ever have to move the scope in the rings it will stick out like a sore thumb.
