Gunsmithing Cerakote applicator vs. certified applicator

A certified applicator just spent the big bucks to go out and train for two days at NIC. Doesnt necessarily mean their quality is any better, but you are at least guaranteed that it is good to go. Reputation on here goes a long way, or just getting a recommendation from someone.

Certified just would hopefully give you a guaranty that the quality would be good to go. As for the work it's pretty simple stuff that you could most likely do. Prep is probably the hardest part. You have to degrease and sandblast very well before a simple spray on application, then just have a large enough oven to bake the finish to cure. I've done a few items with excellent results.

Speaking as someone who has been through the training at NIC,i learned a lot of little things that have definitley paid off and would have cost me time and material if i had to learn on my own. Most important lesson from the class i took with me,prep work is important and can make or break a finished product.
My employer covered the expense so for that i am grateful, but still of the opinion it would be worth to pursue on my own if needed.
Hoping to get an email on Monday that my new curing oven is completed and ready for pickup, taking a 11 hr round trip to pick it up and stop by NIC for some Cerakote while in the area.

Looking through the website, I found a few Cerakote providers in the Seattle area. One is a "certified applicator", while the rest are just "applicators". Is there a difference in the quality of service?

I think it's a total crapshoot if you don't go with a certified applicator...granted there are lots of good applicators out there, but I have seem some really botched jobs! I used a guy I found off Cerakote's website, ghcoatings, Jason's a good guy and did a really great job, I'll post pictures in a little bit.
