Gunsmithing Cerakote oven heating element recommendations

Hey guys,

Well, I thought I had my cerakote oven ready to rock when I ran into a brick wall.

I bought a 750 watt single burner hot plate. Put it in, fired it up, 120 degrees. Took it apart and turned the thermostat as high as it will go. Right now, I am getting 160 degrees out of it - 90 degrees short of my goal.

My oven is an old save that I insulated. The dimensions of the base are 8.5"x22".

I need to figure out what I can use to get this thing hot enough. The biggest problem is finding an element that is under 8.5".

Any help with an element you guys could give would be greatly appreciated.....

I know this guy who knows this guy and he has used a couple of halogen bulbs with great success to heat his setup similar to yours.

Like how many halogen bulbs are we talking about here and what wattage?

Go buy a pair of 500W halogen shop/flood lamps. Should cost around 2 bits. Wire into a rheostat. One for each.
