I saw on another site that cfe would work with creedmoor but no data was given. Seeing that I'm running 140 amax and 140 nolsers I need a some help. Does anyone know of a starting point

Re: CFE223 & 6.5 CREEDMOOR

Well, they go up to 107 grains as of today, but yea, it's sparse info. Log your results and share! I've got CFE223, and getting into a 6.5 in the near future.

Re: CFE223 & 6.5 CREEDMOOR

Yeah that's what I got. It looks like every 5 grains heavier it goes up .5gr of powder

Re: CFE223 & 6.5 CREEDMOOR

There might be a reason they only load it in the 107s, that being said, id say the max would be right around 37.5grs for the 140s.

Re: CFE223 & 6.5 CREEDMOOR

Yeah, this weekend the kids are going to their mom's. So I will have time to work on numbers. I will leave my stock trigger in just in case I blow a primer

Re: CFE223 & 6.5 CREEDMOOR

I wouldn't pick it.

Slower powders for heavy bullets are best, H4350, R-17, N160. Varget is the fastest powder I would attempt to use in 6.5 creed with 140's.

Re: CFE223 & 6.5 CREEDMOOR

Good to know. I'm only trying it, because I have some laying around, that I never used for my 308 nor my 223

100% agree. I use RL17 for 142SMK and H4350 worked best with the 130VLD.
I think CFE is a little too fast to provide good performance in the CM with heavier bullets.

Re: CFE223 & 6.5 CREEDMOOR

After all the info gathered y'all are correct. H4350 is nowhere to be found. Would H100V or H414 work? They have around the same load numbers

Re: CFE223 & 6.5 CREEDMOOR

Hodgdon lists hybrid100v as a good powder for velocity. Hornady load data is 38.8 = 2500fps. Minimum load

Max is 42.8 at 2725 fps at 2.800 with a 140 amax.

H4350 max is 40.9 at 2650 at 2.800

From the 9th edition hornady reloading manual.

As we all know you'll probably be pushing them faster but hope this helps ...

Re: CFE223 & 6.5 CREEDMOOR

I have the perfect recipe for H4350, but I can't even find 1# on the shelf. I found varget, h414, hybrid, rl17 and ramshot hunter

I know where 20#'s is for 23$ a lb. No 8 pound jugs and would require shipping

According to hodgdon data center cfe223 is slower than varget

Re: CFE223 & 6.5 CREEDMOOR

I wouldn't use Varget with the 140s. Too fast. I would stick with H4350.

Re: CFE223 & 6.5 CREEDMOOR

Rob's right, the Varget will cost you abotu 100fps in my experience. I have a buddy who dropped 308 for 6.5CM and didn't want to just shelve the Varget he had. We worked a load up with 140 Amax's and it turned out to be around 85-100fps slow.

The CFE223 is pretty fast for what you want to use. If you can't find H4350 or IMR4350 you can use H4831sc though it's going to be a cramped (compressed) load. You can also use H414 and it's slower than H4350 as well being a ball powder it fits in the case well.

I have not looked to use the H100v for this but it's similar in speed as I recall. I had a pound of it on the shelf for use in something else and I've never had the need to stuff it into a CM case.

Anything that shoves the bullets out the end of the barrel at a reasonable speed is better than twiddling your thumbs wishing you were out shooting though. Hit me up via PM if you want to trade data for other stuff beyond the CFE223.

Re: CFE223 & 6.5 CREEDMOOR

Thanks to a fellow hide member and heck of a guy H4350 will be shoved in my shells. I will have to work a load with amax and nolser comp. I have fgm210m primers and cci benchrest primers.

I’ve shot H4350 on both my Tikkas (6.5cm) and 147ELDM… 3/4” group at 200 yards all day… but you gotta find them nodes… every gun shoots differently on the same load.

You might also want to try R16. That’s my go to for now. 127 LRX at 3100 fps is screaming.
