Gunsmithing Chambering and headspacing an AR-10 barrel blank

Re: Chambering and headspacing an AR-10 barrel blank

I kinda thought that, but it seemed too easy and I figured I'd ask.
Torque for the extension? When I headspace my bolt guns I chamber til it will just barely close on the go gauge so when I torque the barrel on it is GTG. I figured the AR would be the same.

the one thing to make sure of is that the go guage will go easily when the barrel extension is tensioned and the No Go does not. it is good to have the Go Firm but as you mentiond that you fit to the Go touching before you tension the barrel this could make the bolt guns up to 4 thou under headspace this is not an issue if youa re using new ammo or handloading to the chamber but you must make sure that the Go will fit once the extension is tensioned or you might have issues with the bolt locking up you need a little clearence in gas guns as you dont have the bolt handle to cam the round closed if it is a little tight.
