Am I right in assuming that if i want to have a rifle to shoot specifically Berger bullets and still want plenty of clearance in a mag, that the resulting chamber would have less free bore?

Also if I chamber for Berger's can you get and accurate load with SMK?

no one is answering this because its way too vague. what caliber, what berger bullet, what mag system etc etc.... freebore that can run most bergers ive loaded works with just about any bullet

If I spend the time and components, (Close to 60-80 bullets) I can find the OCW & bullet seating depth for factory rifles & Berger bullets. I would call berger if I was going to order a custom barrel for a specific bullet. My Douglas 1-12 ( Thought I would go with Nosler bal tip, but too slow), I wound up going with Berger 88's that go half MOA. Finding out the 88's lack explosive power, I am now going with the 87 Vmaxes.

In general, yes. They have a lot of nose, and a relatively short bearing suface. Its a case by case thing though. A .243/.260 needing to fit in a 2.8" mag are much more sensitive than say a 6 or 6.5CM, which have much longer necks and more room in the mag.
