Saturday February 4th at 09:00 we will kickoff the 2nd Utah Cheapskate .22LR match! The first match was a great success and this one promises to be just as awesome. This will again take place at the Provo Gun Club up Provo Canyon. The idea behind this match is to make it as accessible to as many people as possible. It will be a fun, inexpensive, no pressure match for shooters of all skill levels. This match will be FREE. No entry, target or range fees.

This match will focus on the fundamentals of tactical precision shooting. It's an excellent way to get involved in this discipline without taking out another mortgage on the house to fund a rifle and scope. The course of fire will challenge all skill levels so be prepared to to bring your A game.

The COF will center around KYL, positional shooting (sitting, kneeling and standing), target I.D., and off-hand shooting. Targets will be placed from 25-100yds with 1 UKD engagement.

We'll be utilizing 2 ranges so we can fit a group roughly twice the size we were able to last time, which is about 30 shooters.

Gear Required:

- Any .22LR Rifle (semi-auto, pump, leaver, or bolt action)
- 50 rounds of .22LR ammo
- Ear Protection
- Eye Protection
- And a positive attitude!

Gear Recommended:

- Scope with target turrets
- Bipod
- Sling
- Rear bag
- DOPE/ note book
- All essential tools for rifle/scope
- Extra ammo

Please feel free to message me with any questions you have about gear or the event itself. You can also check out our facebook page for updates: Utah Cheapskate .22LR

Roger that brother. It's a ton of fun to do! I'm excited to come up to your place on the 7th. It's been way too long since I've shot your range and I haven't even seen your platform yet!

Re: Utah Cheapskate .22LR Feb. 4

USMC8541, first of all how dare you?!?! Second of all you're good to go with your 10/22, but you are more than welcome to use either of my bolt 22's as I'll be busy running the show. Let me know if you can make it!

utahstroke, as far as I know, we are clear. Concealment is my game!

Biggerhammer50 got you down!

Re: Utah Cheapskate .22LR Feb. 4

Hey Cory I have a brother that wants to come also, so count one more,
Thank's!

Re: Utah Cheapskate .22LR Feb. 4

Awesome news everyone: Provo City cant figure their crap out so they aren't allowing any reservations for the gun range until "somewhere around March." This means that we will either need to postpone the match until we can reserve the range, or find a different venue. I am open to suggestions.

Re: ** Changes **Utah Cheapskate .22LR Feb. 4

Update: The shoot has been moved to Hobble Creek Canyon range. There is a $2 per shooter fee as I was not able to book the range and pay for everyone like last time. If the fee is an issue, please PM me and I will make sure you are taken care of. Here is a map to the range: Hobble Creek Range

Let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Also, if you decide not to come, please let me know ASAP so we can get the proper amount of targets to the range.

Thanks,

Cory

Re: ** Changes **Utah Cheapskate .22LR Feb. 4

Great! The HC range is practically in my back yard.

Re: ** Changes **Utah Cheapskate .22LR Feb. 4

I got a question from a fellow potential Participant. Guy is coming at 8:00 to open the gate. Will there be a little time before the match to get a Zero for the scope at one of the distances?

Thanks,

Brent Stewart

Re: ** Changes **Utah Cheapskate .22LR Feb. 4

Not to speak for Cory and his crew, but I would suspect that setup activity down range will prohibit prior shooting. However I may be wrong.

Re: ** Changes **Utah Cheapskate .22LR Feb. 4

utahstroke is correct, though after the 1st stage (cold bore shot)shooters will have 5 minutes to zero their rifles. I like the challenge of the cold bore shot and I figure zeroing right before the match would eliminate that.

Re: ** Changes **Utah Cheapskate .22LR Feb. 4

BlackWhiskey,
I sent you a PM.
I just found from Yotedog out you moved the shoot to Hobble creek. Glad I called him this morning. I would have been sitting at provo canyon wondering what was going on.
Anyway, check you PM and give me a call if you see this today. I would be happy to give you a hand setting up in the morning.

Good to see some familiar faces will be there.

Re: ** Changes **Utah Cheapskate .22LR Feb. 4

Just a word of advice to anyone who hasn't been there in the off season: It's a good idea to dress warmly. It can be real cold in the shadow of the canyon until the sun peaks over the mountain around 10:30.

Re: ** Changes **Utah Cheapskate .22LR Feb. 4

For anyone who hasn't been there before, here are directions to the range from the I-15 Springville exit 260:

Re: ** Changes **Utah Cheapskate .22LR Feb. 4

Someone left their steel target out on the range. (The target we used for the postional shooting.) I have it now. I can bring it to the next shoot or if you need it before that let me know.

Re: ** Changes **Utah Cheapskate .22LR Feb. 4

Thanks BW, I had an excellent day! Lots of good people and great shooting. Maybe next time we can turn the temperature up a bit!! my toes are still froze.
Looking forward to next time.

Re: ** Changes **Utah Cheapskate .22LR Feb. 4

Good work today gents! It was fun shooting with the old crew and good getting to know the new shooters. Everyone was safe and friendly which made it a successful match in my view. A special thanks to Guy, Leo, Eric, Brian, and Rodney for helping out with the match today.

I have been getting a lot of suggestions for other stages/gear/targets we can use for future matches and I do want to utilize them. If you would, please list the gear that you would be willing to donate to the match for the day so I can get an idea of the COF for next time.

Re: ** Changes **Utah Cheapskate .22LR Feb. 4

It was real fun today. I learned a lot about equipment and tactics. I can hardly wait for the next match.

Thanks to the leaders!

I'm sure it does. I had a hell of a time trying to get everything to line up when I was typing and I'm sure I entered a couple wrong values.
