so i just got back in town yesterday from the zombie shoot in minnesota that dpms was hosting and stopped by the local pawn shop, i noticed a gentilemen with a pistol case and asked him what he had he told me he had a charles daly 1911 45 acp and he was hurting for money. so i proceded to ask him how much he was looking to get out of it and how much he payd for it and the round count and what not. anyways i ended up buying the gun for a total of 180.00 bucks, i guess i was curious if any body has one and how well it works and i bought it to add to my rig.

My brother in law has one. I've only shot it once but it went bang every time. AFIK he's had zero problems out of it. They're not expensive but you got a helluva deal on that one. Nice score.

They are $500 plus guns.

No personal knowledge of Charles Daly 1911s, but I have a CD shotgun that works very well.

yea i know i could have gotten it for 150.00 but i figured i add a lil extra to help the guy out, he had a security uniform on said he was hurting for cash but i think i did pretty good but was curious of any good after market parts i could throw on it. i was thinking of a surefire mr07 mount for a light any of you think of any thing else maybe new grips if so what kind.

The dalys arent bad for the money, and for what you paid, you can beat it. i have gone through a few 1911s as well as some custom built ones. it all in how you look at it. if your the occasionall shooter, it will be ok. get some good grips, and some extras of your choice. i have heard of the hammers having problems, bad metal and they crack? also get an oversized barrel bushing and have it installed, and a trigger, and whos knows it might shoot really well. Good luck
