Gunsmithing Chassis, Action and Barrel painting question

I have a McRee's TMAG chassis arriving today to put my Savage 12 action in. The action is married to a Benchmark barrel that has been Nitrided.

I ordered the chassis in raw so that I could have it custom coated by a local gunsmith. It may be a little bit before I can get it to them so I was wanting to rattle can it until I can get it to him to do his magic and I leave Thursday for Kentucky for a long weekend.

So, what's the best way to go about doing this? My thought was to prep the chassis and action with a primer, paint everything and then hit it all with a clear coat.

How long is a bit? Id just hit it with the paint and touch it up when needed. If it wont be long then your smith may apprisiate it if you did not rattle can it.

This all depends on what paint/coating your going to be using.

Just rattle can it and go. It's easy touch up and cleans up easy when your smith can get to it. No need to primer anything
