Chassis Debate

Re: Chassis Debate

AICS is great. love the quality and rugedness so i am sure you will love the aiax if it is built the same way

Re: Chassis Debate

Conventional stocks allow you to access the trigger in the field with the removal of the two action bolts. Some chassis allow you to access the trigger and some do not. I had a trigger screw loosen on me with the xlr and could not easily fix it in the field. This will not be an issue for everyone, I just like being able to fix things if need be. The manners mini chassis is worth looking into. Just my .02. Good luck.

Re: Chassis Debate

Can't speak for the other chassis', but the AIAX is a work of art. That's the one I went with and I couldn't be happier. And the customer service at Mile High Shooting is exceptional.

My personal favorite....

Re: Chassis Debate

I can't say enough good things about my XLR's. They are built like tanks, the fit and finish is flawless, they have almost infinite adjustment built in, and their customer service is top notch. Plus it makes me feel good supporting an American business where the owner works right along side the other guys in the shop.

For what it's worth, my next rifle will probably be an AIAE MKIII. The first thing I will do to it is pull the action out of the AI chassis and put it in an XLR. Nothing against the AI chassis, but there are just too many advantages to the XLR.

If you are anywhere near me let me know, and you can run an XLR through it's paces.

Re: Chassis Debate

I just got my second XLR equipped rifle put together yesterday. Thus far I have no complaints. They're the most comfortable stock/chassis I've used and certainly aren't hurting the accuracy or consistency of my rifles.

Re: Chassis Debate

The AX might not be the best option for F Class but I'm going to give it a try just for the sure comfort of the stock.

Re: Chassis Debate

The XLR is a pretty well designed piece and the machining is very good. I just couldn't get used to the feel of it. I don't own any AR15's and the XLR seems to mimic the ergonomics of them. I also didn't care for the really high ring setup to clear the barrel shroud. That said, the Whiskey-3 chassis fits me a lot better and has quicker and better designed adjustments for the same cost.
