Hey guys just getting some ideas for a rifle build. I was looking at trying an MDT lss chassis but was wondering how it would be for hunting as that will be the primary use of this rifle. If not that I was thinking of going with a manners eh1.

I harvested a deer this year with my rifle in an XLR Element. It is a competition gun of mine that I took out. It is by no means a light rifle, but it was nice to have! I've been tossing around the idea of building a lightweight hunting rifle. I'm going to go with a manners or KRG Bravo. I think they'll fit the hunting aspect a little better. However, XLR makes great stuff!!

So I have used a manners and q fix...two things

1) think of temps and how you are holding the rifle. The q fix was kinda of annoying on cold days as I don’t like to wear gloves and the chassis feels colder than the manners stock

2) if you think you will travel get a folding stock. If you have to fly it will pay for itself in one trip

On the whole both the manners and q worked really well. The q was more comfy to me but looked a bit out of place.

I really like the idea of a hunting rifle in a chassis system, but the problem for me has always been being forced into and AICS type mag system. If someone made a chassis with flush or low profile mags that had room for long bullets, I would be all over it.

Seems some people really like it. My last build was with a manners t5 and while waiting for some parts I slapped it on my varmint rifle and loved it for hunting. Now that the build is complete I’m actually looking at moving the t5 over to the primary varmint rifle and slapping a masterpiece arms on the custom for comp and double down as hunting rifle.

Have you considered a Manners stock with a mini chassis? While you won't have the ability to customize the heck out of your rig, you do get the benefit of easy installation and don't need to mess with bedding. You might also save a significant amount of weight, which is important for a hunting gun.

I’ll have to look into the mini chassis

Christensen MPR chassis. Carbon doesn’t feel as cold as aluminum. Right side folder makes it even more compact.

I don’t know exact weight but seems on the lighter end of spectrum.
Do you know where I can purchase just the mpr chassis?

Just note it will only take standard recoil lugs. Custom actions won’t fit

Any eta on when this will be available? Currently building a hunting rig for my 10 year old son and want to keep it as light as possible (have everything in but the stock or chassis right now)... Also, I assume there are spacers available by the look of the buttpad area?

Thanks

Most 5 rd mags barely make it to the trigger guard. I'd say that's pretty low profile. I had an MDT HS3, and the chassis itself was pretty light and compact. The buttstock I had (same as pictured) was a little on the heavy side. Plenty of lighter weight options for that though.

Unless you're really wanting an AR style grip, I'd definitely recommend a KRG Bravo with 5 rd MDT mag.

We are looking to have everything for sale within the next couple weeks. Feel free to give us a call or send a email over to [email protected] for more information, pictures etc.. More information and pictures has also been posted on this thread https://www.snipershide.com/shootin...sis-from-xlr-industries.6953466/#post-7865118

I own a XLR Magnesium 4.0 and a MDT HNT. Both are very nice but the HNT is a little lighter, the folder lock is better, and because it's make of composites feels "warmer" on the hands. If I had to sell one the XLR would be on the chopping block.

I prefer the mdt XRS over the bravo.

Killed tons of stuff with bravos, but the rubber and angle of the grip, longer forend along with higher fit and finish of the XRS wins for me. Only trade off is an extra pound.
