Ok guys i am building my first long range .308 and have my basic set up but I'm unsure on we're I want to go on my stock. Right now I'm kinda torn between a b&c m40 or an aics 2.0 . My question is will one system be more accurate than the other?

If you're not building a rifle for duty use, I'd go by feel. I've shot properly built and bedded rifles in McM stocks and every AI chassis there is with no bedding and the results were the same. If the rifle is built right it won't matter. I don't mind saying I smoke the AI chassis dope but I still like getting behind a stocked rifle too. Scratch that first line. Build 2 rifles, problem solved, glad I could help.

Mostly a matter of feel and personal preference for looks, function, etc. The folding chassis are nice. Also, it's easy to tie up as much and sometimes a good bit more in bottom metal, inletting, bedding, etc than you can buy a good functional chassis for and drop it in and torque it. Check out McRee's Precision before you decide.

my buddy just got a Mcree and it's a nice looking chassis, but personally I like the looks of the ai more but I have never handled one.

in reality, that would be best. one good thing about the aics is if you buy it and decide you don't like it, you can probably sell it within a day with minimal loss of value.

I have both the stocks you mentioned. The AICS is about 3.25lbs heavier, if that is a consideration. Folding is nice when you want it, but you have to be realistic about whether it really is important. You'll be able to adjust the cheekpiece to your proper height with the AICS. The B&C M40 will require a stock pack or some other means of raising the comb. The AICS will work better in the prone because the heel of the stock is higher and doesn't dip as low in your shoulder pocket. Of the B&C stocks, I have a preference for the 2956. The front is the same as the M40, however there is no drop at the heel, has a "hook" on the underside of the buttstock, and has a slightly longer pistol grip.
Any one of the stocks is going to bolt right onto your receiver and get the job done. And obviously the B&C is about $800 less than an AICS. I may have an AICS 2.0 in FDE available soon. Good luck in your decision.

I'm glad this came came up. I'm also trying to decide what to get. From what I have read here and other places the AICS is the way to go if it fits. It's a bit heavier but also more durable as well. One question though. The AICS 'dark earth' color looks yellow in pictures, is it darker in person?

My vote is to the XLR Evolution, when I was looking at the same choices you are I stumbled on it just before I was going to order an AICS. The XLR got my money and I'm very happy with it. I think it's a bit lighter than the the AICS, or Mini Chassis which is what I'd get if I went the more traditional stock route. JMHO Good Luck

Thanks guys, this will mostly be a prone rifle so weight is not a big deal. I will look around up here and try and get my hands on them, Chances are pretty slim though, you don't see many lr shooters here

I agree with both. I owned a McMillian A-5 and liked it. I did not however care for not being able to get a full grip on the stock. I now own a AICS with Viper Skins and will never buy anything but a chassis system for a bolt gun. Different strokes for differnt folks. It just depends on what feels good to you and what suits your application.

Same problem for me but im betweent the aics and jae. Too bad jae is on a 10 month backorder.
