looking for input on cheap(<$300) scopes for a savage 740 22 hornet. shooting paper @ up to 200 and small game @ about 100+/-. need 10x,at least,on top and 2-4 at bottom end. thinking about weaver buck commander, swift, nikon prostaff, lower end bushnell. IMHO AO isn't an issue til>10x,for what that is worth. needs to be 1" tube and no more than 42mm objective due to in place mounts. thanks for any experience/ideas.

I would go with the Bushnell Trophy XLT 4-12x40mm or the Bushnell Banner 3.5-10x36mm. I believe the Trophy will have a few more lens coatings than the Banner. That coupled with the larger objective will give you a brighter scope. However, either one should work well for you.

10x40 Bushnell tactical elite. You get mil dot reticle that you can actually use for corrections onto target, very good turrets and you can get them format or under 200.00. Also very reliable.

Good luck,

Re: cheap scope input please

thanks. have used optics planet several times with good service and pricing. i am leaning towards weaver buck commander, either 2.5-10 or 4-16 AO. any input on them? esp compared to nikon prostaff, swift and the bushnell you mentioned, which is still an option.
