Gonna put a MIRS rail on an REM 700 MLR. And by the look's of it I'm going to need to run a cheekpiece of some sort.
Any suggestions? I have a Desert Warrior on an M1A but I wanna go a different route this time as the DW is a little cumbersome with the bigass knob's sticking out.

Thank's for the help!

I have the stock packs on several rifles but I'm not sure if I can get the height I need with it.

I like the looks of the Karsten but the ones Ive seen have the bigass knobs as well???

Best place to buy one???

Re: Cheekpiece for Rem 700?

You can make the height what ever you need it to be with the number of Layers you add. You can use a mouse pad or flip flop which ever you prefer or can get your hands on. You won't see it any way after you put the tape over it and you wont see the tape after you put on the stock pack. If you look close at my pic above you can see the black tape at the end of the stock pack. I used two layers of a mouse pad to get the height I needed but it will be different for each individual shooter. JAA

While the good old duct tape and shower shoe is a tried and true method, depending on how high you end up having to go, an attached raised cheekpiece can be hard to take off and re apply in exact same manner for cleaning purposes. Awful hard to run a bore brush down the tube when you can't get your cleaning rod in the boreguide because the cheek rest is too high.

So, if you have to take it up a ways, I say the Karsten.

There is another option I have seen and never used. It was a set of stacked hook and loop. Basically, take an adhesive hook and apply it to the cheek piece. Than take the adhesive side of a loop piece and apply it to the adhesive side of a hook piece. these "hook on one side, loop on the other" will be your height adjustment make 5 or so and see how high they get you. Top it off with an eagle stock pack and they you have a removeable cheek piece WITH a buttstock.

I learned that method here. I forget who had the thread on how to do it, but it looked great, was easily removed and put back on, and durable without the holes in the stock from a Karsten.

I really like the ideas here. I believe both were done by 308Dude's friend. I have the friends contact info if anyone is interested. PM me.
