Re: Cheekpiece for Rem 700?
While the good old duct tape and shower shoe is a tried and true method, depending on how high you end up having to go, an attached raised cheekpiece can be hard to take off and re apply in exact same manner for cleaning purposes. Awful hard to run a bore brush down the tube when you can't get your cleaning rod in the boreguide because the cheek rest is too high.
So, if you have to take it up a ways, I say the Karsten.
There is another option I have seen and never used. It was a set of stacked hook and loop. Basically, take an adhesive hook and apply it to the cheek piece. Than take the adhesive side of a loop piece and apply it to the adhesive side of a hook piece. these "hook on one side, loop on the other" will be your height adjustment make 5 or so and see how high they get you. Top it off with an eagle stock pack and they you have a removeable cheek piece WITH a buttstock.
I learned that method here. I forget who had the thread on how to do it, but it looked great, was easily removed and put back on, and durable without the holes in the stock from a Karsten.
