Having retired from 31 years on the CPD this show is a little heavy on the BS. Opening chase scene where the cop is talking to the perp with a pistol aimed at his head and he actually talks to him instead of shooting. BS!
The city though is beautifully portrayed though and the female police superintendant is definately hot. I'll give it one more episode to see if I can warm up to it.

Yeah Jennifer Beals from flash dance and Yale Grad...,,but as the Superintend. of Police she is a little too emotional and not enough political to have achieved that office, but hot is hot

Compare the TV NYC Super. of Police on TV Show --Blue Bloods...Tom Selleck --another formulaic cop show, but well done NYC, Regan Family and the Irish...He is so understated and controlled..the mature cop who achieved the office he holds (in fantasy TV)

cop shows are the 2000's equivalent of the 1950's Westerns...
