Buddy of mine is in the beginning stages of a build and he is dead-set on using a Choate Ultimate Sniper or Varmint....He was over yesterday and we shot my 700 in AICS 1.5 and he loved the detach mags. He asked if I'd ever seen the Badger DBM combined with the Choate Ultimate stock....I told him I hadn't but I figured if it had been done the Hide would know. If you have a pic plese post it if it's been done.

I told him I figured by the time he paid for the DBM and the machine work he could have bought an AICS 1.5......but you know how it is when someone gets an idea in their head.....

He's a choate fan....I made the comment that it was like putting $2,000 worth of 20" rims on a primered 1982 Oldsmobile that's worth $250....He didn't like that one bit!

All kidding aside...I feel Choate makes a great stock, just dont know if what he wants to do is wise when the finished product may not be the best option.

Anyway....post pics and info if you got them...if not, then lay into the idea so I can reinforce my thought to him that this is not the best route to go.

I believe that it can be done with the new tactical stock. have your "friend"

email choate. They will respond quickly.
They may even have a tactical model already inletted for DBM.
I have both the varmint and tactical stock, I prefer the tactical stock, but both work extremely well.
Both of these stocks improved the accuracy of the rifle that was put in them (Savage 12FV in the varmint, Rem SPS tact in the tactical).

Re: Choate Ultimate Stock w/ Badger DBM

I don't inlet for Badger but I do for My DBM. I have done dozens of the Choate Tactical stocks. They are easy to do, and are plenty stiff and easy to fixture up. I have 2 in the shop right now, just did them last night.

The Savage Would work with the Varmint, as the front screws do all the work, and you could trim the Triggerguard to fit I think. If you did it right it would look good.

Are you talking about the choate a5 copy?

If so, I may be getting that stock for my 308 build and I want dbm for it, so Ill be going with CDI.

How much is it for you to inlet the stock?

Re: Choate Ultimate Stock w/ Badger DBM

Inletting is $60 and takes a week or less. These stocks are stiffer than HS precision and any other composite stock that does not have an aluminum skeleton. of all the lower cost stocks, I prefer the Bell and Carlson. then Manners or McMillan for higher end stuffs.
