CHRISTENSEN arms MPR /and MASTER PIECE ARMS MPA COMP in 6.5cm ?

I don't think they are made for the same purpose. The MPR looks more oriented for hunting and field use where weight and compactness are more important.

The MPA comp is a competition chassis with many competition oriented features.

What do you plan to do with your rifle?

Yes certainly apples to oranges. The MPR is more of a dual purpose gun for hunting and long range. It's light weight is a benefit for trekking about but will be a handicap compared to a heavier rifle for target or competition shooting. Not that recoil is bad, it's just going to push you around more and your optic off target easier when spotting trace, impacts, and misses. The more expensive carbon barrel is also something you won't want to be burning barrels out on target and comp shooting as it will be much more expensive to replace.

The MPA is the exact opposite.

You can't go wrong with either so long as you pick the right option for your uses. Unfortunately you're not going to get one rifle that's going to do both tasks great and that's solely for weight considerations.

Sorry for posting on an old thread but I have not seen this addressed in my search on the MPR. I’ve heard the MPR is too light for competition and “jumps around” preventing you from seeing your misses. Has anyone tried the MPR with the steel barrel or just dropping a heavier barreled action into the MPR chassis?

I have a 16' MPR 308. It is a light rifle and probably not the best choice for comps, but if your fundamentals are good, it will work just fine. It would not be my first choice as a comp gun, but I would not hesitate to use mine in a comp just for fun. As a matter of fact, I probably will use mine in a comp sometime just for the hell of it. Mine is primarily going to be used as a light weight (packable) hunting rifle. What better way to prepare for hunting with it than shooting a comp? Now if you are buying a rifle strictly for comps, then the MPR is definitely not the best choice, but if you just want to shoot a comp with it, no problem. Proper fundamentals and spotting hits/misses shouldn't be an issue, especially with a 6.5 CM.

Dirthead1,

Do you think the CF fore end is strong enough to attach some MLOK weights to it (Like the MDT weight kit)? My plan is currently to throw my barreled action into an MPR chassis, and add the weight kit for the occasional comp that I shoot for fun.

Nice! MDT makes these small weights that attach by MLOK to your Fore end. A pair of them weigh 0.78 pounds...so I guesstimated I could add around 3 pounds to the chassis by doing that.
