Got home a couple of days ago from Fort Benning. I just completed the basic training portion of my 11b OSUT training. It's good to be home and was wondering if anybody had any memories good or bad from their training.

Basic was fun looking back...when you get to your unit, they will (or should) tell you to brain-dump just about everything you just learned...so you can learn it the right way from your unit.

Being a PVT is easy...you just have to do what you're told

Re: Christmas Exodus

Left there in August of 04. Good times that I have no desire to repeat! A 1/50.

Enjoy your leave, aim to get back early (don't be the guy who's late). but most of all, enjoy the time off with the family, and be ready to work when you go back.

Re: Christmas Exodus

That was 44 years ago for me, don't remember a whole lot (B-1-2, Ft Lewis WA). I do remember my father telling me, "Screw up the first thing, then, put your nose to the grind wheel, they'll be watching you, it will pay off if you do your part", and that worked.

After basic I was rushed through AIT, then Jump School to get us home by Christmas.

Lots of rushing, getting soldiers out of training and to S.E. Asia in those days.
