Chronograph Errors

I have a shooting Chrony that worked great till my last range session.
It gives me constant ERR1 messages and some erratic readings when it does manage to read my shoots.
I have it set up 10ft from the muzzle on a good tripod using the sky screens in full sun light with clear sunny skies.
Usually when I would get this error I would change the battery and it would go away but now nothing I do helps.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Was it cloudy or too sunny?

Might be time for a new Labradar.

Chronys aren't known for their great consistency or accuracy.
Find a bud with a better rig.
These would include Labradar and magneto speed or for old school an Oehler.

Read the instructions that came with it. I believe ERR1 is the first sensor didn't detect the bullet. You might make sure the sensors are aligned with the bullet path.

When I was using a Caldwell chrono, I found it worked best if I could set the entire unit in the shade with blue sky directly overhead. I never used the screens, but my firing lines afforded me the shade/sky scenario.

As Onyx said, ERR 1 should be front sensor detection failure... you probably already know this, but make sure the unit is aligned with your bullet path vertically as well as horizontally.

A cheap chrono is vastly better than no chrono, but if you're serious about shooting, invest in a LabRadar or Magnetospeed when you can.

It was sunny with a clear sky around 1100hrs with the sunny in the southern sky. Thinking the sun angle was hitting the photo cells. This thing had worked almost flawlessly till I used it with a 300 Win if that has anything to do with it I don't know. It was set up 10 ft away per operating instructions.
I plan on getting a new Magneto Speed for Xmas but need to get this working now for some load development.

Try at 12-15 feet and see if it helps.

Thanks I'll try that . I was also thinking about putting side shields on the defuser wires to cut down on any side light from shinning on the photo cells.
