Chronograph skyscreen spacing

I've been using a Oehler 33 since 1982 and have always used a 5' spacing between the 2 skyscreens. I would like to reduce this distance to 4' for storage concerns but was wondering if I would be sacrificing any readout accuracy.

What distances to you guys use? I don't want to cut the metal conduit until I hear a few opinions.

The spacing is really defined by the computational firmware that converts time between two events to a velocity.
