Chrony F1 stand

Re: Chrony F1 stand

It's probably like the 2 I owned. Most are threaded 1/4"X20 like any photo instrument. A $20 Wal-Mart photo tripod will work. I prefer the ones with the little hook made onto the vertical riser on the bottom. It makes it easier to hook up a bungie cord and drive a stake into the ground to hold it in the wind.

Be aware that the Chrony brand name is probably the most inaccurate chronograph on the market. Record your numbers in a notebook of some kind (I use a lot of high school "composition books". They are less than a dollar each at school starting time in the summer.)

Good luck.

Re: Chrony F1 stand

Any photo tripod should work.. I do most of my shooting prone, so I just set it up on the box or laying it on the ground. The JOBY from REI.com might work well since it's adjustable.

I have to echo victor. It's probably not the most accurate chrony in the world. Take good notes on your velocities but let your down range results tell you the real truth about your loads. Use it give you an idea of where your avg. velocity is but I wouldn't trust it to give you accurate ES or SD values.
