Re: Chrony F1
I think you get what you pay for.
When I used chronos, all I wanted was a simple velocity display, not avarages, es/sd;'s or whatever. A Chrony was good enough for that. Then mine got soaked during a Sun shower and become unreliable. I never got around to doing anything about it because for the most art, velocity has never been a big part of my handloading strategies.
I find I can shoot several distances out to 250yd, plug in the values to a calc, tune the velocity values until the drops coincide, get a ballpark trajectory, and use it to get me on paper further out. For my purposes, this works well enough. For my purposes velocity is most important as a factor telling me how far out I can shoot and remain reliably supersonic. Beyond that, it's just an arbitrary number and not especially interesting except for comparison purposes.
