Suppressors Clamp On Muzzle Brakes

I know this is a suppressor forum, but I couldn't find a more appropriate place to ask this stupid question.

A mate of mine is determined to fit a clamp on brake to his .223?

Personally, I think it would not only be as much use as pockets on underpants, but adding all that weight to the end of his barrel will change the harmonics and we have been having a running argument about it for a couple of weeks.

He insists that as it is a bull barrel it will be rigid enough that it will not be effected, I reckon he's talking out of his blurter and will be causing trouble for himself for no reward.

I have never bothered with brakes, so it may well be me that's talking out of ignorance.

Can anyone here settle this?

No one can settle the argument. You'll have to clamp the brake on and go shoot to do that. I'd bet that it cuts recoil noticeably and has no negative effect on precision of the gun. Most people that drop a 20 oz suppressor on the end of a gun don't see a negative effect so why would a 4 oz brake cause one?

Unfortunately, adding a suppressor, something I would love to do, is one of the many things denied us in the Police State of Australia.

Seems every little bit of knowledge I pick up simply shows me how much more I have to learn.
