Cleaning inside case necessary?

Just reading the sticky on reloading and read about sonicating to clean the inside of the case. I already run my brass through a tumbler and use 000 steel wool on the inside case neck, is it really necessary to clean further than that to get long range accuracy. Long range is something I am just getting into but I have been loading for up to 300yds with my .308 for years shooting easily 0.5MOA and have never even thought about trying to get the inside of the cases spotless. Is this a common practice or someone that enjoy's going to the nth degree.

Thanks for the input!

As long as your cases are clean and dry, you'll be fine. They don't even have to be shiney. Just clean, dry and free of grit and other contaminates

Thanks,
I had never even evaluated how dirty the inside of the brass is until i read that and the black soot on the inside of the brass makes my OCD side go crazy. On the other side is the Dad who doesnt have time to be OCD about brass cleaning unless absolutely necessary.

Re: Cleaning inside case necessary?

I have been using the ceramic media & it does an incredible job. It gets the case looking brand new both inside & out & does no damage to the cases. I am not sure it is necessary; however, I take the doubt out by doing it.
