So since Dewey doesn't have any 338 specific cleaning rods, any recommendations? Or just youse a 30 cal rod with 338 jag and brushes?

And does anyone use a boresnake for 338? If so when do they utilize it the most?

I found a montana extreme rod, but there 60 bux. Worth it?

I use Dewey rods and like them a lot. They work great. The 30 cal rod with the 338 jag and brushes will work fine. Also, use a bore guide to prevent getting solvent into the action. Not that it will hurt the action in any way but it keeps the bore cleaner from getting everywhere.

This. Once I tried one of their carbon fiber rods, I replaced all of my cleaning rods with carbon fiber Dewey's. A little more expensive than metal but well worth the price, and debris wont embed into it like the pores of a metal rod. The teflon coated rods never seemed to hold on their coating very well either.

Re: Cleaning Rod for 338?

thanks for the info. I had a dewey for my service competition rifle, but that was 223. Didn't know how if anything the 30cal dewey would effect the 338, but it looks like ill be ordering the 30 cal dewy in carbon fiber.

I use Dewey's... there are a lot of good quality cleaning rods out there. Yes, a 30 cal rod will do fine on a 338. Biggest thing is get a one piece quality cleaning rod.
