any thought on using one of these. i have one and it will hual about exactly what you referenced comfortably. mre would need to field stripped of coarse but it's light weight and comfy.

Not much mileage 3-4 at most. Blow/cut down trees, thick brush, an shooting over, under, an around everything. Don't want to leave a pack somewhere then not be able to get back to it.
Was issued butt packs, Alice, ect back when, never liked any of them. They hang on everything, had to have a buddy remove items or take it off to get junk. Just looking for something that I can grab anything, from anywhere. Plus playing snake w/o the hump, makes smaller holes easier to get into.
Years ago I had an old bird hunting coat, that I added pockets to. It worked well, an I was wondering if anything new was out there, that could be store bought.

Look into Wicks products. Its a hound hunting outfit with some really good over gear. I bear hunt (dogs) in the bibs and coat with xtr large game bag that access from the front. slick as snot and will NOT hang in cover. You cover shipping and I will send it to you to try before dropping cash.

or, for a more cost-effective solution just get an SAS Smock. Purpose built for load carrying. Plenty of them around if you Google. Here's an example:
