Are these people still in business? I heard somewhere that they were bought by Rock River. They made AR type rifles and had one in 30-06. Any other info would be helpful.

Re: Cobb Firearms

Cobb was bought out by Bushmaster over 3 years ago. The only model that survived the buy-out was the .50BMG bolt action that Bushmaster has renamed the BA50 (available as a rifle and carbine setup). There were some problems with these rifles (including some catastropic failures) a while back and I don't know what BM has done to rectify some of the earlier "problem children" left around by Cobb. To my knowledge, the other projects that Cobb had under way have hit the back burner where they have stayed since the buyout (incl. the semi-auto .30-06, 338LM, etc. rifles that Cobb was rumored to be developing).

Re: Cobb Firearms

There is a place in Colorado that makes some really nice semi-autos in a lot of calibers (including magnums and WSM). They can probably set you up with what you want and it will be far superior to the red-head stepchildren of Cobb. IIRC, that place is RND precision. Exercise your Google-fu.

Bushy has pretty much shelved all of the cobb junk from what I understand, and I would imagine there is a good reason for that even if it is as simple as low market share for those designs compared to the ACR and such.

Wait around long enough and maybe they'll sell it to someone else. That's how RRA got the initial design for the LAR-8 which they have (Thank God) improved upon from the initial bolt-eating monsters.
