Looks like my new LaRue OBR and SUREFIRE 762K can are a match made in heaven. I only had (2) rounds (left ammo at home) so I figured I would try 2 cold bore shots. I'm very pleased so far with the minimal POI shift (less than 1/4"). BTW. I was using Hornady 168gr. AMAX TAP ammo. I know that I have lots more testing to do and hopefully I won't forget the ammo next time.

Re: Cold Bore Shots Suppressed/Unsuppressed

Nice shot....thats pretty close to the kind of accuracy I am experiencing with a 20in 308 with a tbac 30p-1. Accuracy in the modern day age of AR's that can shoot sub-moa with a can a long way out are a reality...some people just dont want to believe it.

Nice shots man.

That's sweet man, glad your setup is working out well. It's nice when you spend hard earned cash, and it works right the first time. What is bbl length on your larue? What is the connection for that surefire, thread on or qd? Pics?

My current wet dream is a SASS style AR-10 with a minimal poi-shift can.

It's a 18" barrel and I'm running a QD can. I'll post some pics and data when I hit the range later this week.

+1

Those are great shots. I am envious of that minimal amount of deviation between the two.

Re: Cold Bore Shots Suppressed/Unsuppressed

I am glad to see your success with that setup as it is identical to what I 'll be running (except the glass). Just waiting on the 762K and MB762-211C. Nice shooting.

Re: Cold Bore Shots Suppressed/Unsuppressed

I think a lot of the POI shift has to do with thickness of the barrel, threads, shoulder, and the quality of the mount. My Noveske 18 inch heavy barrel has no POI shift with my Gemtech HVT QD. On all my other guns that suppressor produces a .9 mil POI shift.

Re: Cold Bore Shots Suppressed/Unsuppressed

I agree with you jckhmmr but would also add in to that list the weight of the can being a factor. One of the big reasons ti cans seem to be causing less poi, is because they don't change barrel harmonics as much due to being much lighter than traditional cans.

Re: Cold Bore Shots Suppressed/Unsuppressed

I can never shoot accurately cold bore, much less with a can on. Def. need more practice. What is a good time to 'cool' down between shots?

Re: Cold Bore Shots Suppressed/Unsuppressed

Youve got me curious now, as soon as I get some time Im going o take my 6.8 out and see what I can do with it cold bore wise. It out shoots me everytime. I agree the AR platforms dont always get the credit the deserve. Nice shooting by the way!

I usually wait about 15 minutes for the barrel to cool down. During this time I like to range targets or practice some carbine/pistol skills.

Different ammo from your 9/19 shoot? Or did you just adjust your scope? Either way very impressive. Still waiting for my can, can only hope POI changes that little!

Same ammo. The wingnut behind the rifle had 1/10 mil elevation dialed in which raised the POI about 1/3". After this test I clicked her down 1 click to "0" and was back in the red.
