College

so how do you plan to make a living? And pay ff the ponzi fees?

Congrats...
I’ll continue my career in the Army free of any college debt. Used FAFSA and Tuition assistance, and have incured zero out of pocket costs thanks to OU allowing me to attend on the in-state tuition rate. All without touching my GI bill. I did some significant planning and research to pull off that stunt.

Good on ya,,,,use that goddam GI bill,,, look at how you can make the most money over a lifetime no how happy you think you will be doing what you think you will like today... make money,, its mostly what matters

Glad you are using the money,,,

More than likely what I’ll do after I graduate next spring is apply for grad school at University of Louisville. They have a partnership with the Armed Forces now that caps the cost of classes at the University for both undergraduate and graduate courses at $250 per credit hour which allows me to attend grad school at a reputable institution while still only using the Army’s Tuition Assistance program. Leaving me with my GI bill fully entact to which I’ll use to attend Law school upon my retirement more than likely.

That is kind of where my head is at currently. $750 a class to earn a masters at Louisville is just an unbelievable opportunity to pass on.

This is all truth no lies right here. I didn’t do it for the money is the most overused horseshit I’ve ever heard. People ask me “why’d you reclass from infantry? You loved it”. My response “Because the Army gave me $42,800 to fucking do it that’s why”. Geez some people lmfao.

Congrats on the hard work! Hope for this best in this somewhat shitty looking future in the socialist USA!

Congrats on your achievement.

Keep your eyes and ears open and take all chances given to you so as to increase your cash inflow. Make as much as possible. Life is like a shit sandwich. The more dough you have, the less shit you eat.

Invest like crazy and avoid the keeping up with the Joneses BS. Liquidity is your friend, ignore it at your own peril

Congratulations, good job. But how the fuck is a Criminal Justice a BS and not a BA? Did you take a lot of science courses in there? Just curious. Mathematics, which was my schtick, is a BS but could very well be a BA too depending on how you view it.

Study law and go to the JAG school at UVA.

Congrats! Long journey no doubt. Been there in academics myself for many years then stayed in research, made cool shit on the DoD's dime. Fun times back then. Got tired and burned out on "theoretical bullshit" and changed my entire life towards things I can actually influence.

Big tip (and just the tip mind you) for anyone out there and a mantra that I have followed for years: The book isn't always right - do what you know works then compare that to how someone in a laboratory did it - in said book.

Too old, too many years of active federal service, back to school for JAG program not open to enlisted folks. Three obstacles I can’t get around. Tried every avenue of approach on this one. No waivers allowed.

You certainly are motivated and have a great head on your shoulders. I spent 6.25 years in the Army Security Agency in the 70s with 5 years in Asia and took ZERO civilian courses. My nephew, much smarter and motivated than I, joined the Navy and served six years enlisted as an Electronics Tech. The Navy sent him to nursing school and at 19 years time in service, he wanted to go to nurse anesthetist school (masters program) but the Navy didn't have an opening. He had met an Army Col that took an interest in him and promised, "If you jump ship to the Army, I will get you into our program." He did so, finished top of his class, served 2 years in the field, and returned for his PhD in neuroscience. He has 32 years of service now and serving as a LTC in charge of all nurse anesthetists at Walter Reed Hospital. He may have a shot at full bird Col but he is for sure set for a great career after retirement and is, like you, debt free on his education. Congratulations to you and best of luck in the future.
