Gunsmithing Color match for Mcmillan stock?

Re: Color match for Mcmillan stock?

I think FDE would be more like the darkest color in their Desert camo pattern, you may want to look more at something like Coyote Tan to match the middle color on the Sand camo, but it's hard to say, it might be too light. I guess if it were me I'd probably just go FDE and plan on it being darker than any of the stock colors.

Oh for f*ck sake you've got to be kidding me, right?!?!?

Obviously it has to do with looking like a good rifle, yet actually has nothing to do with the rifle, or you'd make sure it shot how you wanted prior to finishing.

Rather than a duplicate color, you might want to consider a complementary color.

Color matches can end up looking ho-hum, which does not reflect the effort and pains one takes to get a color match perfect.

Yet, a complementary color scheme can look more interesting, and you just need to use some color sense and good judgement.

Consider also that you can employ a standard stock color, and not have any issues finding a match if you need to do touchup.

Finally, if you absolutely must have an exact match, ask McMillan for advice. Its not like they've never heard the question before.
