I have a Colt 1911, that was built in 1917, that I am considering selling. The pistol shows its age being that it is 93 years old. The pistol shoots and functions very well. I actually have not had any issues with performance. I am not exactly sure what to ask for the pistol. I have been told different price ranges. I know there are some Colt 1911 experts here, and I am asking for your input and thoughts as to what I should ask for this pistol. I have pictures that I can email if anyone would like to see. I am at work at the moment, so there is no way for me to post pictures here at this moment. I look forward to hearing back from you guys with any help you may offer.

Thanks

Re: Colt 1911

BOLTRIPPER,

100% agree with you. I have carried the pistol to the same place twice and been told 2 different prices. The sad part is that it was a $1000 difference between the prices. I got the high dollar value when I said I was not interested in selling it, and then a few months later I got the low ball dollar value when I mentioned that I might sell it. I am leaning toward that the shop owner saw a hell of an opportunity to make some easy cash when he low balled me. I told him he was $1000 off of what he told me a few months ago. He said that he must not have been paying close attention to the gun, or didn't realized what he was saying when he looked at it the first time.

Any leads you may have to a trust worthy professional would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Re: Colt 1911

Do some homework so you don't walk into the apraisal blind. And maybe get a couple if it is worth $$$.

Trust, but verify.

Good luck.
