A Soviet war film, made in 1985. Just bought the double-disc DVD. Contains some pretty horrifying and fucked-up shit.
For added realism, a battle scene was filmed with live ammo. The result? A cow gets machine-gunned to death.
I recommend this film for anyone who's interested in seeing a WWII movie that didn't come from the Hollywood cookie factory. This film really stands apart, a truly unique piece of work.

Yeah, I have this on VHS and watched it a few years ago. Pretty weird, but realistic movie. Winter War is another gem if you haven't seen that. Some very realistic combat footage.
