I was just barely getting the local station that plays old time country music this AM. They increase their signal about 0700 maybe than.

The radio definitely gets stronger if allowed to warm up. Starting to hear the music come in a little stronger after two minutes or so of operation.

    Fucking Time Machine....

Screwed with the antenna, actually loosened the connection on one of the legs and the station came in stronger. Now I have both legs under the single terminal....

Those who have never sat in front of a black and white TV on a Saturday morn waiting for the set to warm up will never know true struggle.

It takes a while for all those tubes, transformers, and capacitors to get charged. Old? I remember all the little brick buildings that the phone lines ran in and out of. Repeater's.

Getting better longer it runs. Some of the background buzz is disappearing.

Who knows when it last ran.

With old gear that hasnt been used for a long time its usually best to use a variac to bring them up to full power slowly. The 'buzz' could come from needing the old dried out resistors and caps replaced. If it doesnt clear up take it to an old guy who can work on vintage tube equipment. He can likely tweek it to get maximum performance.

Yeah but you can't watch the tick tock on it! Just kidding of course, I appreciate you and others being a steward of history, you probably think of it as a challenge and tinkering, but you and others are preserving history. Thank you!
