Compact/Lightweight budget hunting rifle

I got a Remington Model 7 in my cart, ready to checkout. I'm looking for a compact and light weight hunting rifle.

Must be chambered in .308.
Must weigh less than 6lb.
Must have 16"-18" threaded barrel or have enough meat on the barrel to be threaded.
Must be under $800

Anything else out there that meets all of these criteria before I go ahead and hit the button?

That, or maybe a Ruger American Compact (I don't know if there's enough meat on the barrel to support threading, though).

Edit: looks like the Ruger American Predator busts your weight budget by .2 pounds. Personally, that's a price I'd pay to go Ruger instead of Remington, but that's just me.
