Anyone know of a compact semi-auto pistol that has a decocker? I currently have a taurus 38 as a carry weapon but am considering replacing it with something semi-auto at least .380 caliber.

Small enough to fit into a jacket pocket would be nice. Depending on what I'm doing or wearing it might be ankle, back, hip holster or in my suitcase/laptop case. I saw a sig 9mm compact at a local store but it was a bit large for me, it did have a decocker though (239? model I think).
Searching online it looks like sig makes a low profile PPK clone with a decocker, that looks kind of like what I want.

Why would you want a decocker? Why not carry cocked and locked? Or possibly a striker fired pistol like a Glock?

I'm not too familiar with the Glock action, the only centerfire semi pistols I own are a hipower and a pair of p226's. I got to thinking about a decocker after playing around with the one on the p226, I really like that pistol. I will add glock to the list.

Glock has the "safe action" it has no exposed hammer or anything like that. Its point and pull the trigger, no safety to think about or anything like that...... point and pull.

Sig 230 in .380. Big enough to hold onto, very accurate, D/A first round, decocker, light, small enough and flat enough to easily conceal. Fed 90gr. Premium Hydra Shocks have a good record.

Sig P239 with 3.6" barrel and single stack mag available in 9mm, .357SIG or .40 cal. or the Sig P232 chambered in .380acp. The Walther PPK or PPK/S, both in .380acp. HK compacts are nice also.

Does it have to be a semi? I was looking for one and was eyeing the Sig P238 but that one did not have a decocker and ended up with a Ruger LCR .38+p. Very light, amazed the hell out of me. You wont even know your carring it. Double action no hammer so it wont get snagged if you drop it in a pocket or a ankle holster. It has some nice extra padding in grip at crook of hand so recoil is easily manageable. Really like it. If my wife can put all 5 on target at 10yds well I know its acurrate. I am pretty sure Crimson Trace makes a grip for it to.

what about a Russian Makarov? the caliber is in between the .380 acp and the 9mm (it is a 9x18) and it is about the same size as a walther ppk and has a decocker. if you get one of the east german ones they are actually pretty nice.

look at a diamondback its kind of a
cross between a keltec and a glock
i had the chance to fire one and it was sweet.
but you will have to give up the decock.

I never intended to declare it a pocket pistol.
I skimmed over the thread and saw the origional post which said nothing about it having to be a pocket punk.
But you are right, I would never carry it in my pocket. Never been a fan of having to draw from a pocket and would never carry there if I haf the choice.

The barrel length on a USP Compact if im not mistaken is about 3.5"
With an overall of of about 6.75" or somewhere around there.
Not positive tho, havent had mine out of the safe in some time.
Still not a pocket punk but not huge at all.

Barrel length is about 4.25" on a USP compact 9 or .40. The .45 is 4.41".
This is about the same as a full sized M&P, and somewhere between the Glock 17 and 19 in side.
The USP Compact is a very large pistol for concealed carry. The profile doesn't lend well to concealability, either.

I just looked at multiple sources including HK website and it states... 3.58" for 9mm and .40 / and 3.80 for 45.
The M&P's overall legnth is .75" longer than a HK USP compact.
just wondering not starting a riot.
It worked very well as a carry for me. Different strokes for different fokes.

Sorry, got the compact confused with the full size.
Either way, the USP compact is a BIG gun.
My G19 is smaller, has a longer barrel, and is lighter and more concealable.
Both are very capable, but the USP is far from ideal for concealed carry, for me anyway.

My suit gun is a Kahr PM40, very small, need need for decock or safety, it is striker fired.
Very small, not easy to handle, but will get the job done up close. Very concealable.

If you get a misfire you simple release and re-squeeze the front cocking lever and pull the trigger again.
