In UK they can only recommend retail prices not force </div></div>
NightForce can do whatever they want. If someone does not comply to MAP they pull the plug on him. Don't know if you call it price fixing or not, some call it freedom. Only one that really suffers is us consumers.. but who the hell care about us anyways
?</div></div>
In the UK we have laws to protect the end consumer not the company. a company can get fined 10% of its global turnover for price fixing. we have RRP and thats it. and promotional prices can be fixed but they have to be lower than normal prices </div></div>
I understand but I am not for any more laws in America, we have way too many as it is...
Yes I know the UK likes to make laws to protect us from us. However, the only person we all should worry about protecting is the idiot in front of the mirror. At the end of the day we have a choice to research the product and determine to buy or not, so why do we need laws for this?
This is America and not Communist UK, a company can operate however it wants as long as they are not killing people. Besides we don't need a anti-price-fixing law because we can take it upon our self to bypass the whole MAP thing by brokering our own under the table deal.
All MAP pricing does is put on a pretty face for NightForce and it works. Underneath the pretty face of MAP, you will find all it does is hurt the true to honest consumer looking for a good deal while encouraging shadiness and under-the-table deals.
NightFoce is not the only company that enforces MAP. There is a reason you have MAP. Companies that enforces MAP do so in order to build a stronger dealer network. They depend on their dealer network to stay strong so it can generate revenue and increase Market Share. This seems to work too, so you can't argue with NF for going this route.
I do agree with you in that MAP is just another name for price fixing. Just ask the Columbian Cartels how much better sales is when you fix price and build a strong dealer network
.
Can you really blame NF for going the route of the Gambino Crime family and price fixing? At the end of the day you will realize it's not about the consumer, and it's ALL about making money so you can't fault NightForce.
Having all the Fanbois populate the forums and tell us how great NF is helps too generate sales too. </div></div>
I agree but the average consumer does need protecting from the big companies because their size and power can cause a heck of a lot of problems.
Take a look at Lehman Brothers and the trouble they caused the WORLD!
But in this instance NF are just maintaining their price point and keeping everyones margins as big as possible.
