So I'm just wondering what the definition of a complete lower is. I just bought 1 from a shop that had to be ordered, when it showed up complete to the store owner meant no butt stock. I always though a complete lower included a buttstock am i wrong?

Re: complete lower??

What I would call a complete lower would be with a butt stock. But most definitely with a receiver extension at the least. The castle nut holds the receiver extension and the end plate on which hold the rear take down detent and spring in place.
So, I guess it COULD be without the butt stock because it servers no purpose for the assembly of the LPK within the lower, but the gun would be incomplete without it and therefore not a COMPLETE lower. Complete means complete. 100% done. You cant complete a jig saw puzzle with pieces missing. Sure most of it may be done, but I'll take it back to the store and say its incomplete and I cant use it as it is.

TLDR its not a complete lower without a butt stock IMO

Re: complete lower??

One man's "complete" is another man's "complete minus furniture (or minus buttstock assembly)!!" I have seen this advertised both ways in terms of "complete" lowers but generally speaking, the seller or retailer makes it clear upfront what "complete" means in their terms. What were you "promised" or what was the wording of the ad/deal you bought the lower based on? If they said "complete" and left it at that, I think it is reasonable to expect a lower that is ready to have a complete upper attached and shoot...not one requiring an addt'l expense associated with or the installation of more parts.

HOWEVER...now to the unpopular portion of the response...with all that said, I think it falls on you, the buyer, to root out the details before buying. Sounds to me like you expected "complete" but had no idea what stock to even expect (collapsible/M4/etc., fixed/A2, etc.). You just expected it to have A STOCK, etc. The store owner, while saying "complete" meant something else. A short, 30-second conversation about the details of what specifically you were buying (or what you thought you were buying) would have saved you the trouble (i.e. - brand of lower, trigger type, grip, stock, etc.). The devil's always in the details.

Re: complete lower??

+1 ORD

Just take a look at the LMT store.....many options, different stocks, triggers etc.

http://www.lmtstore.com/lower-halves.html

OP - what exactly did your vendor advertise or describe as included at the point of sale? Do they do standarised packages on a certain spec? Or were there different specs/options to choose?

Caveat Emptor!

Just going through a Lower purchase (stripped) and even after spec'ing exactly what I needed/wanted in writing, the vendor still delivereded the wrong thing!! At least I had the original written order as proof of what was ordered......

Re: complete lower??

I told the owner i just wanted a cheap 5 pos stock on it. He said no problem and when i when to pick it up he told me it would be another 80 buck for it even though i had all ready paid him for a complete lower. I told him i wanted the stock before i ordered the lower.

If you told him what you expected ("cheap 5 pos stock on it"), he said "no problem," then delivered you something other than what was agreed on...then I would say that falls on HIM as the seller because what he promised was NOT what he delivered. And FWIW...$80 for a complete, "cheap 5 pos stock" seems high to me as they can readily be found for between $55-60 (that incl. the stock body, ALL mounting hardware, buffer and spring).

Re: complete lower??

Yeah $80 is way high for just the stock

This is my favorite retailer and they have one for MUCH less.

At Rainier you can get a complete butt stock assembly for $80

Sounds like this guys is trying to take advantage of you. Especially considering he said no problem to ordering it with the stock
And BTW I hope you're not paying more than $330 for your complete lower. Not trying to shit on your order, I just hope you're getting a good price. Especially considering there's no "$80 butt stock" lol.
