Sidearms & Scatterguns Concealed Carry Revolver

I’ve decided on the 442.
Gonna look for some of those older revolvers as well.

Call the Pack and Post 210 Mill Street Lancaster MA.

He deals in buying estates when its a case of "Oh, oh Grandpa is not coming down to breakfast"

He generally has snubby Smiths or Colts in his case. He had a 1968 Colt in pristine condition that I lust over but Ive been able to restrain myself.

I plan on running Federal HST Micro 38 special +P.
What are you running in your snubby?

I load this in all my 38 Special revolvers, regardless of barrel length:

I still have plenty of this, but reserve it for guns with 3" barrel or more due to the poor results I've seen in gel tests when fired from 2" guns:

Gave it a good cleaning today and installed Wilson Combat springs, Hogue grips, and smoothed out a few spots. Feels a little smoother and I'm gestimating the trigger is around 10 to 12 lbs. Waiting on the holster and have to run a couple hundred rounds through it to test it.

Nice.....let us know how the WC spring kit does after you have run some rounds through it.

I just picked up a 640 Pro - I have several other J frames but this is my first in DAO. Wanted to shoot it some and then maybe go with either a WC or Apex duty/carry kit. I’ve never had the side plate off a revolver - most reviews indicate replacing springs aren’t too difficult, guess I’ll find out.

I could, but it's not my daily carry piece and a new set of slightly larger grips is much easier to get and will likely solve the problem.

You might check out these Hogue rubber mono grips.

A set came on a 640 I just got (I replaced with Crimson Trace). They have a lot of cushioning on the upper end of the back strap - there’s like a blue urethane shock absorber strip on the inside that helped tame down some .357 I shot. I was tempted to leave’em on but already had the CT’s.....

Honestly, working on grip and arm strength has done immensely more for my ability to be both fast and accurate with double action revolvers than any action job or spring kit ever has.

Don't get me wrong, an action job is worth it when the DA trigger is more than 9 lbs, but grip and arm strength is key.

Nothing like taking 10 steps back for no reason...

Bench
What are you referring to?

Yeah probably a douche who can't run a revolver worth a shit and so thinks they're obsolete.

Loving my snubnose! Carries like a dollar bill.

Did some more work on the internals, swapped to the 13# trigger spring, and it's now at around 8 lbs. Feels perfect.

Passed the firing test. Tried 4 different brands of ammo and it went bang 100%. The 43 is now collecting dust!

I like my ruger lcr. I had a 38spl+p version a couple yrs ago, but unloaded cause I never carried it and was less than impressed with 38spl carry ammo. A buddy has about 500 fed nyclad rds, figures that will get him through retirement. Those rds shoot very soft in an airweight/lcr, and expand to 3/4" mushrooms. I picked up another lcr the other day, but in 9mm. Reloads are quick with the moon clips, for a revolver, I just need to buy some better tk custom moon clips for carry.

I really prefer the smooth rolling trigger in the lcr, compared to some new and used airweights at the gunshops. My lcr trigger is right at 6.5-7lbs and just rooooolls through. The Smith's had a definite stagey, increasing pull weight.

I took it to the range the other day, haven't fired a revolver in 2 yrs and used to massaged glock or 1911 triggers. Had 15rds of 124+p hst loaded in 3 moon clips and shot this group at 10yds rapid( 3.5,3.1,3.2 with pocket pro). This was from low ready, no holster yet.
