We had about 15 shooters. It was a 200,300,390,500 meter match. Conditions at the start was 40 degrees, wind was 5 mph from 12:00, and the humidity was 50% and not a cloud in the sky. Everybody was shooting fine. About half way through the match the wind dropped to zero and the humidity dropped to 9% with the temperature staying about the same. Suddenly rounds down range are over and under half the time. I don't get it. The only thing that changed was the wind and humidity. The berms are staggered that cause cross wind problems but the wind dropped to nothing. I thought humidity wasn't that important. It was just weird even for our range, which we call The Bermuda Triangle. We were shooting everything from a 25-06 sporter to 6mmBR rifles. The range is at 3600'. The pressure remained normal the whole time at 26.25.

Re: Conditions at the range today

Low humidity means that the atmosphere is thicker (for the same reason that clouds float.)

It shouldn't be "all that much" but with teh combination of reduced wind and thicker atmosphere, means the projectiles were slowing down faster.

I think it was like a virus that spread amongst the shooters. We stopped trusting our bullets and it spread from there. I think I know who started the whole thing. An old Marine.

In hindsight, he didn't seem to be having the same problems. Yep, now I know he was sharking the entire stick. That bastard!
