Hey guys long time lurker to these forums and this is the first time ive had a question i felt warranted posting for your consideration.
For the past couple of years i have been running a Savage FCP-HS precision in .308 the glass i have been using is a Millet 6.5x16x50. Its been a awesome scope for the ranges i fire (typically 2-500 yards) the only real complaint i have with it is the tactile feedback from the turrets during adjustments is "mushy" there is not a positive CLICK felt through the fingertips and it has definitely caused miss adjustment on multiple occasions. That and the black finish scrapes off easy showing bare metal underneath.
I just purchased a Sako TRG 42 in .338LM and have started considering choices for a scope. Millet makes a 6.5x22x56 that im sure would just be a bigger slightly beefier brother to the one i currently own but the nature of this hobby grabs ahold of me at times and ive begun looking over the fence into other brands namely Nightforce. The NF scope obviously has heaps of more features than the millet (and it had better for the 1200 dollars more it cost than the millet) Im wondering if anyone here has had experience with one or both of the brands and could tell me about differences in quality/construction and if in general ill be using the futures of the NF more at the 1000+ yards id like to shoot the TRG at. I realize i bought a 3000 dollar rifle and chewing the fat over 1200 dollars worth of difference in a scope might not make sense to you but it does to me! Keep in mind also that while i plan to shoot the crap out of some paper (and probably some binary explosive) im not a fly by night wanna be soldier of fortune commando type. So any features that might be useful to Bob lee Swagger dreamers might not apply here. Any insight would be welcome, thanks in advance.
